New Passenger Concessions for Norfolk Island

As of the 1st August 2008 new passenger concessions came into effect which aligns Norfolk Island with the may other destinations world wide. The concessions are as follows...

Concessions

Your personal concessions allows you to bring into Norfolk Island free of duty the following:

NOTE: Goods that do not form part of the passenger concession such as commercial samples, goods for commercial use,
goods that may be of a commercial quantity, gifts or goods carried on behalf of other persons not travelling on the same flight, does not form part of your passenger concession and Customs Duty may apply.

If you are uncertain ask a Customs Officer before submitting your arrival card or for further details contact Norfolk Island Customs direct..

Alcohol
The importation of alcohol other than via passenger concession is restricted and requires permission in writing from the Norfolk Island Minister responsible, before importation.
Any importation of alcohol over and above the passenger concession can attract charges or be bonded by Customs.

Any undeclared alcohol in excess of the allowable limits will be confiscated and penalties may apply.

Be aware that it is an offence to conceal items from Customs and heavy penalties may apply to un-declared items!

GST

The Norfolk Island Gst Act came into force on Norfolk Island 2nd April 2007, as a result, goods imported which meet a certain criteria may be admitted "Duty Free", however goods are still assessed by Norfolk Island Customs before release.

All Importers are still required under the Customs Act to complete an export entry and pay duty where applicable.

It is advisable to ask your supplier to provide all receipts or invoices with the goods, when shipping the goods to Norfolk Island to facilitate Customs clearance.
