Advice for Aircraft Operators
Operators or charterers of aircraft may be
familiar with Norfolk Island as being a refuelling destination (YSNF) or "Alternate
Airport", when planning flights to destinations such as New Zealand,
Lord Howe Island, Sydney, Brisbane, Tontouta, Fiji and so on. This section
is aimed at providing information to pilots, crew members and passengers travelling
on flights other than commercial regular public transport.
Pilots - please refer to the Australian "AERONAUTICAL
INFORMATION PUBLICATION. (AIP) GEN 1 Refers" and "ERSA" before departure to Norfolk Island.
You will need to give at least 24 hours notice of intended arrival and
any special requests as per above pilots' publications. Contact Customs or
Airport Manager direct.
The Aircraft doors and windows will be required to remain closed until
the Health and Quarantine Officer is satisfied that aircraft fumigation has
been carried out. For further information in relation to fumigation and spraying
requirements please contact the Health and Quarantine section.
You will need a signed and stamped Customs General Declaration from the
previous port of departure. (We will stamp an Outward Customs General Declaration
for your next port of call. We will require at least two copies)
Passenger and crew manifest.
Cargo manifest (If carrying cargo for Norfolk Island)
Passengers will be required to complete a Norfolk Island arrival card.
This can be obtained on arrival at Norfolk Island.
For Persons not travelling on a New Zealand or Australian Passport.
An Australian Multiple Entry Visa which is current for at least 30 days
beyond your intended length of stay will be required. For further information
contact Norfolk Island Immigration.
A passenger of an aircraft or vessel stopping over more than 24 hours will
be required to complete a departure card and pay a $30 departure fee for each
person before departing Norfolk Island.
Customs must be notified of any crew or passenger change, that is, of any
person joining as crew or passenger or any person disembarking and not leaving
on the aircraft.

Airport Charges
Under the Airport Regulations 1992, certain
charges apply to the operators or charterers of aircraft, such as "Landing
Fees", "After-Hours attendance charge", "Apron security
lighting charge", "Fuel spillage charge." For full details

Customs Charges
Charges occur when Customs clearance is requested
outside of Customs normal working hours or public holidays. Customs office
working hours are between 8.45am and 5pm every day of the week (except public
holidays) and is subject to aircraft attendance on weekends. A Duty Officer
is on call all other hours, and may be contacted as per Contacting Customs.
It is preferred that payment of out of hours
charges be made in Australian Dollars. Extra bank service charges occur should
you wish to pay in any foreign currency. An Automatic Teller Machine is available
on the Island.
